Technological production is explained by the human organism, which even to begin with must be understood as technologically and instrumentally oriented. The projected model is always the healthy, intact, technologically instrumentalised organism. This idea in turn complies with the functional demands of technological objects. Human organs must first of all be considered instrumentally, functionally and in isolation, before they can be a model (or image) or archetype for technological developments. In this case technology would only be the after-image of human organs, which have already been employed instrumentally and are described as available means independently of the body. At the same, however, technology is required in order for the theorists of technology to conceive of the organs technologically and instrumentally. In organ projection theory the organism is at once model (or image) and after-image of technology. If one regards the organs as available means, which, reinforced, enlarged and perfected, are projectively copied as prostheses, then this instrumentalisation of the human organs is always already subliminally subordinated to an end. Hence machines can only be understood as teleological machines.


Die Technikproduktion wird durch den menschlichen Organismus erklärt, der anfänglich schon als technisch und instrumentell aufgefasst werden muss. Das Projektionsvorbild ist immer schon der gesunde, intakte, technisch-instrumentalisierte Organismus. Diese Vorstellung richtet sich wiederum nach den funktionellen Vorgaben technischer Gegenstände. Die Organe des Menschen müssen zuerst instrumentell, funktionell und isoliert betrachtet werden, bevor sie Vor- oder Urbild für technische Entwicklungen sein können. In diesem Fall wäre die Technik nur das Nachbild der menschlichen Organe, die bereits instrumentell verwendet und als disponible Mittel unabhängig vom eigenen Leib beschrieben werden. Gleichzeitig bedarf es aber der Technik, damit die Techniktheoretiker die Organe technisch-instrumentell auffassen können. Der Organismus wird in der Organprojektionstheorie zugleich Vorbild und Nachbild der Technik. Wenn man die Organe als disponible Mittel betrachtet, die verstärkt, vergrößert und perfektioniert als Prothesen projektiv abgebildet werden, dann wird dieser Instrumentalisierung der menschlichen Organe unterschwellig immer schon ein Zweck zugeordnet. Daher kann man Maschinen nur als teleologische Maschinen begreifen.
